16th Annual Austin Area Motorcyclist Toy
Run
December 5th, 2004
On December 5th, hundreds of proud bikers descended upon Helping
Hand Home with a load of presents too large even to be strapped
to all of those motorcycles. The Home's parking
lot and adjacent streets were filled with motorcyclists and their
glistening machines. The children who live at Helping Hand Home
had the unique chance to experience motorcycles up close by revving
the engines, honking the horns, and sitting on the bikes.
December 5th marked the 16th Annual Austin Area Motorcyclists Toy
Run benefiting the children at Helping Hand Home. Thanks to all
the bikers who are organizing and participating in the event and
to the folks at Beverly's for inviting the bikers to gather there
before riding to the Home.
The event was a tremendous success and afterward there was a concert,
picnic and raffle for Helping Hand Home at Beverly's. Thank you
to all who participated and made the Toy Run possible!

Harte-Hanks, Inc. Puts Operation Ho Ho Ho
Into Effect!
For the past five years, the 900+ employees of the Austin unit of
Harte-Hanks have made the decision to give up their typical extravagant
Holiday party at a hotel ballroom to help the children at Helping
Hand Home for Children have a better Christmas. Rather than having
a company holiday party, elf teams took each child's Christmas list,
bought the items on the list and wrapped them so that each child
had their own personal bag of toys on Christmas morning.
Harte-Hanks also donated $75 per child towards essential items
such as pajamas and shoes. To help raise money for the gifts, employees
conducted numerous fund-raisers including bake sales, raffle drawings,
and the largest fund-raiser, the Ho Ho Ho Online Auction. Thanks
Harte-Hanks employees for going above and beyond to make the Holidays
special for our kids!
Rotary Club Answers “Santa”
Wish lists
The Rotary Club of Austin hosted their annual holiday party for
the children of Helping Hand Home on December 16th. Rotary members
spent countless hours gathering the children’s wish lists
and then wrapping and personalizing each gift. Each child had a
chance to sit with Santa and then open many gifts straight from
his or her wish list. Many Rotarians attended the party, continuing
a tradition of supporting The Home that goes back more than eighty
years!
Thanks to All of Our Friends Who Make The
Holidays Special!
