Champions for Children Raises Over $185,000 for Abused Children!

On October 9th, Helping Hand Home for Children hosted the 8th Annual Champions for Children Awards Luncheon to honor top caregivers and volunteers in central Texas for their inspiring dedication to children in need. Over 800 nonprofit and business professionals from all over the city gathered to recognize the unsung heroes that are changing disadvantaged children’s lives in the greater Austin community.

Thanks to the 88 major corporate sponsors that made this luncheon a success and to our event chairs Lanette and Wallace Smith, whose dedication and hard work are truly inspiring.

This year's Keynote Speaker was Dave Pelzer. Dave delivered an inspiring presentation that energized all in attendance. Once the victim of horrific child abuse, Dave is a living testament of a self-made man, who as an optimist strongly exudes resilience, service to mankind, personal responsibility and faith in humanity. He has dedicated his life to helping others help themselves and is the #1 New York Times and #1 International Best Selling Author of six inspirational books including the best seller, A Child Called “It.”

Frank Denius and The Cain Foundation were recognized as the Philanthropic Champions at this year's luncheon. Their support of children's programs is unparalleled and we were excited to have this opportunity to recognize them.

The proceeds from Champions for Children benefit Helping Hand Home for Children, a nonprofit organization serving abused and neglected children through therapeutic residential treatment and foster care services since 1893.
